A conversation on building the crypto superapp

Kain has been doing the podcast rounds, and recently sat down with Blockworks founder, Jason Yanowitz, on Blockworks 'Empire' podcast. Their candid conversation covered taking down centralized exchanges, the evolution of crypto UX, and why now is the time for Infinex's token launch. Read on for some interesting takeaways from their conversation, or watch the full Empire episode below.

Making non-custodial as easy as custodial

At the heart of the conversation, Kain solidified Infinex's mission: creating a world where people can interact with crypto in a non-custodial fashion, as easily as they can do it in a custodial fashion.

"Centralized exchanges are the thing that allowed us to climb out of the primordial ooze," Kain explained, acknowledging their historical importance. But he's clear about the endgame: "100%. The world will take down centralized exchanges."

Why browser extensions (still) matter

Kain revealed that despite initially resisting browser extensions as "2018 nonsense," Infinex ultimately built one because "it's the only real solution to the problem today."

He says the ability to import wallets will be a huge unlock for Infinex. Users can now import their existing MetaMask wallet without having to transfer or deposit assets. As Kain noted, "Rabby was able to chop a huge chunk of market share away from MetaMask" using this exact strategy.

Why launch a token now?

"We are just about to get to the point where Infinex can actually take over your onchain life," Kain explained. The combination of browser extension plus wallet import means users can finally "throw away Phantom, throw away MetaMask, throw away Rabby, throw away your Ledger" and consolidate everything in Infinex.

The bigger picture

Throughout the conversation, Kain emphasised that "Hyperliquid has reinvigorated this ‘decentralized platforms can win’ thesis, but the job's not done." Multiple teams need to attack the problem from different angles - which is why Infinex focuses on being a superapp while Synthetix builds specialized perps infrastructure.

Yet try out crypto's first truly global superapp? Create an Infinex account and see the difference for yourself - trade perps seamlessly via Hyperliquid, make simple cross-chain swaps using 'Swdige' and visit your favourite DeFi apps using the wallet extension.
